The Bell 412SP is a 15-seat medium lift utility helicopter with a radius of 745 km, powered by a 1800shp PT6T-3BE Turbo
Twin-Pac made up of two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6T-3B turboshaft engines linked through a combining gearbox.
On 8 September 1978, the Bell Model 412 program was announced as a development of the Bell Model 212 (UH-1N).
The helicopter is basically a Bell 212 fitted with a new composite
four-blade rotor. The first Bell 412 helicopter was a modified 212 that
flew first in August 1979. The certification of the Model 412 followed
in January 1981, the first deliveries were done the same month. The
helicopter is produced under license in Italy by Augusta as the AB412
and in Indonesia by IPTN as the NBell 412. Bell built the helicopter in
Canada for the Canadian Armed Forces as the CH-146 Griffon. The Model
412SP (Special Performance) flew first in 1985 and features increased
fuel capacity, higher takeoff weight and more optional seating
arrangements. Next to the role as passenger transport the Bell 412 is in use as EMS helicopter with a
crew of 2 pilots, a HEMS-crew-member (Paramedic) and an emergency doctor.
Over 620 helicopters of the Model 412 are built.
BC Ambulance Bell 412SP C-FCCK was photographed at his base Kamloop
Airport in British Colombia, Canada. This 1990-built helicopter is
operated on behalf of the British Columbia Ambulance Service (BCAS), the
sole ambulance service and provider of pre-hospital emergency care in
the province of British Columbia. Next to a fleet of fixed-wing
aircraft, the BCAS operates four dedicated air ambulance helicopters.
These helicopters are not owned but chartered. The Bell 412 based in
Kamloops is owned and operated by CC Helicopters (2011) Ltd., Kamloops, British Colombia.
On 25 October 1990, the Bell 412SP s/n 36009 was registered first C-FJCI
in Canada with Textron Canada Ltd. On 25 November 1990, registration
C-FJCI was cancelled as exported to the USA. In the USA the Bell 412SP
was registered N6602W; N402MA and finally N568AC. On 7 August 2009,
registration N568AC was cancelled as exported to Canada. On 10 August
2009, the Bell 412 SP was registered C-FCCK in Canada with CC
Helicopters Ltd, Kamloops, British Colombia. On 9 February 2011,
registration C-FCCK was cancelled. On 18 February 2011, Bell 412SP
C-FCCK was restored to the register with CC Helicopters (2011) Ltd.,
Kamloops. On22 January 2014, registration C-FCCK was cancelled and on 16
May 2014, the helicopter was once again restored to the register as
C-FCCK with CC Helicopters (2011) Ltd, Kamloops, British Colombia.
