The AgustaWestland AW119Kx is a single-engine light-utility helicopter designed and developed by AgustaWestland and built by
AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corporation in Philadelphia, US. The AW119Kx is used for performing a variety of missions such
as emergency medical services (EMS) transport, offshore transport, VIP or corporate transport, law enforcement, fire-fighting,
and government duties. The AW119Kx helicopter is an improved and upgraded version of the AW119Ke Koala a further development of
the AW119 single-engine helicopter with a skid-type landing gear and was officially presented in October 2012 at the
AMTC (air medical transport conference) in Seattle, USA. The AW119Kx features a high resistance cocoon-type airframe and is
fitted with the Garmin G1000H glass integrated flight deck system and latest avionics, including synthetic vision, moving map
and obstacle/terrain avoidance systems. The aircraft also has dual-independent hydraulic system and dual-independent stability
augmentation system (SAS). It features four rotor blades with a width of 7.76m. It also includes emergency floats, oxygen
system, an external hoist and a fire fighting belly tank. The AW119Kx features a high visibility cockpit that is 1.38m long
and 1.59m high. The helicopter accommodates seven passengers and one pilot. The AgustaWestland AW119Kx is powered by a single
Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6B-37A turboshaft engine. The large unobstructed cabin and separate baggage compartment permits rapid
reconfiguration for a variety of missions. The high volume cabin has enough space for a comprehensive suite of EMS equipment
with a capacity for 4 medical attendants and a single stretcher or 2 attendants in dual stretcher configuration, with access
to the whole patient body. The cabin is rapidly re-configurable for a wide variety of EMS missions. The AgustaWestland AW119
Koala Mk II, which was introduced in 2007, was an improved version of the original A119 with a higher 6,283 lb takeoff weight.
It is powered by a single 1,002shp Pratt & Whitney PT6B-37A turboshafts and, with its fixed skid-type landing gear, it is
mainly intended for utility operations including emergency medical services. As the AW119 is a further development of the A109,
the helicopter was certified by the FAA via a revision of the original A109 TCDS No. HE7EU. The ICAO Aircraft Type Designator
for the AW119 helicopters is A119.
On 1 January 2016, the name AgustaWestland was dropped while Finmeccanica S.p.a., the parent company of AgustaWestland, changed to a one
company operation consolidating all its subsidiaries beneath one united name. From 28 April 2016, Finmeccanica S.p.a. changed its company
name to Leonardo S.p.a.
Life Flight Network was the first customer for the AW119Kx with an order for 15 units of AW119Kx helicopter to be used for air medical
transportation in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. In March 2013, the first AW119Kx helicopter was delivered to Life Flight Network. In 2015,
Life Flight Network's AW119Kx aeromedical fleet exceeded 10,000 flight hours. At that time Life Flight Network already operated 19 AW119Kx
helicopters. On 26 December 2016, Airworthiness was alloted to the AgustaWestland AW119Kx c/n 14846. On 6 February 2017, this in the USA on
the AgustaWestland Philadelphia Corporation, the former Agusta Aerospace Corporation's (AAC), Philadelphia facility' productionline built
helicopter was registered N776LF in the US as an AW119MkII with Keybank NA, Northwest Mountain, as owner, and entered service as an EMS
helicopter with Life Flight Network. On 12 September 2017, the 2016-built AgustaWestland AW119Kx N776LF was seen in service with Life Flight
Network at the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport, also known as The Dalles Airport, Washington, US.
