The Avid Aircraft Avid Flyer Mk.IV is a two-seat ultralight aeroplane with a fixed tricycle undercarriage.
In 1983, Dean Wilson developed the Avid Flyer, a lightweight aircraft with Cuyana engine
and tricycle landing gears. It was an instant success at Oshkosh in 1983 and won the
"Best New Design" award. Nowadays Avid Aircraft, Montana, USA produce the homebuilt
kits of the Avid aircrafts. The Mark IV is offered as a folding wing kit-plane; the
composition of the building package is tuned on the customer wishes. The customer can choose
the engine, tri-gear or tail wheel, wing, like the S.T.O.L.-wing, etc. |
On 27 May 1992, the 1992-built Light Aero Avid Flyer s/n 1137D was registered PH-2H7 with T. Lammers, Nijega, and H. Hoekstra, Oenkerk.
The registered type of the aircraft changed into Avid Avid Mark IV on 16 July 2001. H. Hoekstra, Oenkerk, was registered as owner of
the PH-2H7 on 24 January 2007. Despite the CofA of Avid Avid Mark IV PH-2H7 expired on 15 September 2010, the aircraft was sold to
K.D. de Haan, Hoornsterzwaag, on 19 October 2010. As the CofA was not renewed since 15 September 2010, it was not allowed to fly the Avid Avid Mark IV PH-2H7.
On 6 May 2011, the aircraft became a news item on television and in the newspapers as the aircraft was flown without CofA and after the aircraft landed at Zeeland
Airport, the Avid Avid Mark IV was seized by the authorities and even the pilot of the PH-2H7 was arrested. After the CofA was renewed, the Avid Avid Mark IV
PH-2H7 returned in service. |
