Rans Inc. started in 1983 with the production of aircraft and has delivered since over 4000 UL-aeroplanes complete or as a building package. The production-prototype of the Rans S-6 flew first in November 1988. The two-seat Rans S-6S entered production in 1993. In April 1990, the Rans S-6ES went into production. It is the second generation of the original S-6 design. The standard engine of the Rans S-6S is the Rotax 503; 582; 912 or 912S. Already over 1700 Rans S-6 Coyote II Series kits has been delivered to customers throughout the world.

The 2001-built Rans S-6S c/n 02001359S was registered PH-3N1 in the Netherlands on 27 August 2001. Rans S-6S Coyote II PH-3N1 is equipped with a Subaru EA-81 engine. The Ultralight aircraft was photographed at the former MLA-airfield at the Maasvlakte near Rotterdam in the Netherlands. This airfield was owned and operated by the Stichting Rijnmond Ultra Light Maasvlakte.
