The Turkish charter airliner Sky Airlines (SHY) was established in 2000
as an affiliate of the KayiGroup, located in Antalya. On 12 April 2001,
commercial flights started with a fleet of 2 Boeing 737-400 airliners.
In 2009, Sky Airlines operates six Boeing 737-400, one Boeing 737-800,
two Airbus A.320-211 and two Airbus A.321-231 airliners. |
The 1991-built Boeing 737-4Q8 s/n 25731 flew first on 18 December 1991. The airframe was ordered by ILFC and
leased first to Cayman Airlines and delivered as VR-CAA on 13 January 1992. After the VR-CAA was returned to
ILFC the aircraft was leased on 2 July 1993 as N404KW to Carnival Air Lines. In October 1997, Carnival Air Lines
was renamed Pan American Airways. On 8 December 1997, MSA I, Wilmington
(DE), was registered as owner of the aircraft. On 18 May 1998,
registration N404KW was cancelled as exported to Greece. On 23 May 1998, the aircraft
entered service with Olympic Airways in Greece as SX-BKK. Olympic Airways was renamed Olympic Airlines on 12 December 2003.
Sky Airlines became the next operator of the Boeing 737 and the aircraft was registered TC-SKG
in Turkey on 29 March 2006. Boeing 737 TC-SKG "Gold" was photographed at Groningen Airport Eelde in the Netherlands when operated
on a holiday flight. |
