The Evektor EV-97 EuroStar is a high-performance single-engine, two-seat,
low-wing, all metal microlight airplane with a fixed tricycle undercarriage and
controllable nose wheel. The EuroStar is a further development by Aerotechnik of the P-220 UL Koala,
a design derived from the Pottier P.220S Koala. The company Aerotechnik was established
on 1 January 1970. In 1999, after the fusion with the company Evektor, the company
Aerotechnik was transformed into the company Evektor – Aerotechnik. From
the start in 1970, Aerotechnik developed and manufactured small aircraft.
Single-seat and two-seat versions of A-70 gyroplane belonged among the first designs.
In the middle of 1970´s, the motorglider L-13 Vivat was developed. Production of the
Vivat was running till mid 1990´s. In 1996, Aerotechnik entered the Ultralight-market with the
all-metal aircraft P-220 UL Koala, a design derived from the Pottier P.220S Koala. The P-220 UL Koala
remained in production till the end of 1999. Development of the EV-97 EuroStar started in 1997. The
EuroStar is an ultralight aircraft designed for sport/leisure flying,
touring and training with limitation to non-aerobatic VFR operations.
The Eurostar is aerodynamically controlled. The fuselage has a
semi-monocoque construction formed with reinforcements and duralumin
covers. The tail fin is an integral part of the fuselage. The engine
section in the nose is separated from the crew by a firewall, which the
engine bed is attached to. The aircraft is equipped with four cylinder
four stroke 80 HP Rotax 912 UL engine, optionally 100 HP Rotax 912 ULS
or 80 HP Jabiru 2200. Other alternative power units can be installed on
request. The maximum speed of the EV-97 is restricted on 270 km/h. The
EV-97 EuroStar is manufactured by Evektor-Aerotechnik a.s. in Kunovice,
Czech Republic. The aircraft is deliverable complete, as a Basic kit and
as an Advanced kit. Now a days the ultralight Evektor EV-97 EuroStar is marketed as EuroStar SL.
In 2013 Evektor inroduced the EuroStar SL+ with a new wing and integral wing fuel tanks, increased
baggage compartment volume and eight kg reduced empty weight compared to the EuroStar SL. Over 1200
EuroStars are flying in 50 countries worldwide. The ICAO Aircraft Type Designator for the Evektor EV-97 EuroStar is EV97 |
