The Robin DR.253 B Régent is a four-seater, cantilever low-wing aircraft with fixed, conventional tricycle landing gear with
wheel pants and a single engine. The Robin DR.253B Regent is derived from the DR.200, a further development of the Jodel DR.1050M
Ambassadeur. The Robin DR.200 is a family of French conventional landing gear single-engined light touring or training cabin
monoplanes. Designed by Pierre Robin in collaboration with Jean Délémontez and Chris Heinz.
Originally produced by Centre Est Aéronautique at Dijon. In 1969, CEA changed ist name to Société des Avions Pierre Robin. The
ICAO Aircraft Type Designator for the Robin DR.253 B Régent is DR253The Robin DR.200 model line consists of:
- DR.200 — development of DR. 1050M with full four-seat capacity powered by a Potez 105E engine. Prototype F-WLKP s/n 01 flew first on 17 November 1964; two built;
- DR.220 2+2 — shorter fuselage two-seat variant although it did have a small rear seat, powered by a 105hp Continental O-200-A engine. Prototype F-WNGP s/n 01 flew first on 5 February 1966; 83 built;
- DR.221 Dauphin — a DR.220 with four seats and powered by a 115hp Lycoming O-235C engine, all-flying tailplane. Prototype F-WOFF; 62 built;
- DR.250 Capitaine — a DR.200 with extended inboard wing leading edge and powered by a 160hp Lycoming O-320-E engine, all-flying tailplane. Prototype F-WLKZ flew first on 2 April 1965; 100 built;
- DR.250-180 — experimental DR.250 with a 180hp Lycoming O-360-A engine; one built: F-BMZT;
- DR.253 Régent — a DR.250 with enlarged fuselage and tricycle landing gear, powered by a Lycoming O-360-D2A engine. Prototype F-WOFG flew first on 31 March 1967;
- DR.253 B Régent — a DR.253 with some minor modifications. a total of 100 DR.253 and DR.253 B were built;

In April 1970, the Robin DR.253B Régent s/n 154 was registered D-EGHI in Germany. In August 2008,
registration OH-XIU was reserved but not taken up. In September 2008, the in 1970-built aircraft was registered OH-JMT
in Finland. On 6 August 2004, Robin DR.253 B Régent D-EGHI was seen at Hoogeveen airfield (EHHO). |
