The H.III Flugzeugtechnik Albatros 64 CL is a single-engine,
two-seat microlight airplane with double surface wings, a fixed tricycle
undercarriage and controllable nose wheel. The Albatros was built first
by HELFF GmbH & Co. Flugzeugbau KG in Idstein, Germany. After this
company ended her activities, the Albatros remained for a couple of
years in production with H.III Flugzeugtechnik GmbH in Herzlake,
Germany. The original HELFF Albatros was modified in to the
Albatros 52 and replaced in production by the Albatros 52 from series number 123. A further modified model was the Albatros 64.
The Albatros 52 was replaced in production by the Albatros 64 from constuction number 164. The Albatros is constructed out of
dural-tube covered with sailcloth. The nose of the plane is made out of
glassfibre composite. The original Albatros and the Albatros 52 have a
two-blade wooden Büttner propeller driven by a two cylinder, horizontal
opposed water-cooled Rotax 462 (BRD) engine. The H.III Albatros 64 has a
three-blade plastic Arplast propeller driven by the more powerful Rotax
582 engine of 64 hp (48 kW). The cruise
speed of the Albatros 64 is 115 km/h. |
