The Bombardier BD-700 Global Express is a twin-engine ultra long range executive jet aircraft for 2 crewmembers and up to 19 passengers and 2 flight attendants. Development of the BD-700 started late 1991 and the first prototype flew on 13 October 1996. On 31 July 1998, the Canadian certification was granted and customer deliveries of the BD-700 started in 1999. The BD-700 is designed to fly long distances at high speed. The range of the Global Express is 11.390 km at a cruise speed of 904 km/h. The Bombardier BD-700 Global Express is powered by two Rolls-Royce Deutschland BR-710A2-20 turbofans.

On 31 March 1998, the 1998-built Bombardier BD-700-1A10 s/n 9007 was registered first C-GCRW with Bombardier Inc., Donsview, Ontario. Since the airframe was operated as M-48-01 (Royal Malyasian Air Force), C-GCRW, M-48-01 and N907GX. On 26 May 2004, the executive jet was registered EC-IUQ with Sky Service Aviation, S.L., Madrid-Torrejon, Spain. Sky Service Aviation, S.L., is part of the Grupo Gestair. The EC-UQ came in at Groningen Airport Eelde in the Netherlands on 13 December 2007 and departed the next day.
