The Aeromot AMT-200S Super Ximango is an under licence built Fournier RF-10. The Fournier RF-10 is a side-by-side two-seat motor glider with
retractable tailwheel undercarriage designed by René Fournier in 1981. The RF-10 is a further development of the Fournier RF-9 a single engined
motor glider with folding wings and a retractable tailwheel undercarriage. A small series of production RF-9s was built at the Avions Fournier
factory in Nitray, France, but only 10 aircraft were eventually completed before Fournier moved to the model RF-10, primarily of glassfibre
instead of the wooden construction of the RF-9. On 6 March 1981, the prototype RF-10 (F-WARG) made is maiden flight and it was very similar
to the RF-9. However during flight-testing one of the prototypes was lost in spinning trials and the design was revised with a deeper fin and
rudder and a T-tail. The RF-10 has a wing built in four sections and incorporating some carbon-fibre components, as well as folding capability
for easier hangar storage. Engine is an 80hp Limbach L2000 or - for customers in the United States - an 80hp Revmaster with turbocharger and
dual ignition. Fuel capacity is increased over the RF-9s to 8.8 Imp gallons, and the mainwheels are larger.
The RF-10 was built under licence by Aeromot Industria Mecanico Metalurgica Ltda. in Porto Alegre, Brazil, first as the Aeromot AMT-100 Ximango,
powered by front-mounted 80 hp Limbach L2000 E01 four-cylinder horizontally opposed 4-stroke piston engine. Further developments were the Aeromot
AMT-200 Super Ximango, powered by front-mounted 80 hp Rotax 912A; the AMT-200S Super Ximango powered by a Rotax 912S4 engine and the AMT-300 Ximango
Shark. Among the customers of Aeromot Industria was the USAFA (United States Air Force Academy), to which 14 AMT-200 motorgliders were delivered as
TG-14 between May 2002 and May 2003. The ICAO Aircraft Type Designator for the AMT-100; AMT-200 and AMT 200S is RF10. |
On 19 Jnue 2008, Aeromot AMT-200S Super Ximango was registered G-XYZT in the UK. On 13 May 2012, the G-XYZT was registered with
BETAV in Leiden, the Netherlands. Since, the 2007-built Aeromot AMT-200S Super Ximango G-XYZT is based in the Netherlands, first
at Hilversum and nowadays at Hoogeveen airfield, where the aircraft is offered for sale. On 10 November 2019, the G-XYZT was seen
at Hoogeveen airfield (EHHO) between the test flights for potential buyers. |
