The Spacek SD-1 Minisport is a cantilever low-wing; single-seat enclosed cockpit mainly wooden ultralight amateurbuilt plane with fixed
conventional landing gear or optionally tricycle landing gear; a T-tail and a single engine in tractor configuration. The Spacek SD-1
Minisport is a Czech amateur-built aircraft, designed by Igor Spaccek and produced by Spacek sro, Hodonin. The aircraft is also produced
in the US by SkyCraft Airplanes in Orem, Utah as a light-sport aircraft. The aircraft is supplied in the form of plans, as a kit for amateur
construction, or as a ready-to-fly aircraft. The fuselage is of wood truss design covered with plywood. The pilot seat back is inclined under
40°. Two half wing uses GA 37U-A315 airfoil. It consists of composite main spar with carbon caps on which are glued ribs made of extruded polystyren.
It is covered with 1 mm plywood. Wingtips are made of extruded polystyren with fiberglass layup or premolded are vacuum bagged sandwich. Connection
of wings to fuselage is made thru two main and two auxiliary pins. Disassembly of wings takes 5 and assembly 10 minutes. The connection of flaperons
to controls is performed by simple inserting of control pin into slot. The tails are of similar construction as wings- on composite spar are attached
polystyrene ribs and plywood skin.from wood, with judicious use of composites, including for the wing spar. It is possible to use any engine of 24-50 hp
power range up to 42 kg weight, like the Rotax 447; Hirth 2702 and Zanzottera MZ 201. Standard engines tested are the 28 hp Hirth F33, the 50 hp Hirth F23
two-strokes, the 24 hp and 33 hp Briggs & Stratton Vanguard, and the Verner JCV-360 powerplants.
The Spacek SD-1 Minisport is avaiable in four versions:
TD – taildragger;
TG - tri gear undercarriage;
TGC - tri gear undercarriage with controlled nose wheel;
XL - with a higher cabin hood or a longer cockit that can be used for
taller pilots. At least Kohler CH-750 engine should be used on an airplane with XL fuselage. Today over 45 SD-1 Minisport aircraft are built. |
