PH-CTF Cessna 500 Citation c/n 500-0177 - RLS - Groningen Airport Eelde in Holland - 27 May 1975 Groningen Airport Eelde (GRQ)

The Cessna 500 Citation is a twin-engine executive jet aircraft for 2 crewmembers and up to 6 passengers. The Cessna 500 Citation was the successor of the Morane-Saulnier MS-760 Paris II and the HFB-320 Hansa in service with the RLS. The Rijksluchtvaartschool operated seven Cessna 500 Citations. The Cessna 500 was the standard jet trainer operated by the KLM Luchtvaart School and its predecessor the Rijks Luchtvaart School in the period 1972-1997. However the aircraft were primarily used for flight instruction, the Dutch Government used the aircraft also as VIP-transport. The Rijksluchtvaartschool was owned by the Dutch Government before it was sold to the KLM in 1991. Like the RLS before, the KLM Luchtvaart School was based at Groningen Airport Eelde in the Netherlands. The KLS was renamed to KLM Flight Academy.

On 15 August 1974, the 1974-built Cessna 500 Citation s/n 500-0177 (ex N177CC) was registered PH-CTF in the Netherlands by the Dutch Government on behalf of the Rijksluchtvaartschool. In August 1991, the RLS became the KLM Luchtvaartschool and the Citation was transferred too. In May 1995, the PH-CTF was sold to Uniwest Air at Lelystad Airport and in May 1997, the aircraft was sold in the USA and registered N192AB. After it was registered N888XL, the Citation was registered N883XL on 15 October 1997. The N883XL was registered with Diamondair LLC on 30 October 2003 and on 13 February 2004, Diamondair LLC was authorized to change this registration to N431LC. Cessna 500 Citation N883XL was registered N431LC with Cimarron Aviation LLC on 17 May 2006. The CofA of the N431LC expired on 30 September 2011.
