The Van's Aircraft RV-12, is a two-seat, single-engine, low-wing homebuilt aircraft eligible for the U.S. E-LSA category. The RV-12 is sold in kit form and as a complete ready-to-fly aircraft by Van's Aircraft of Aurora, Oregon, USA. Van's Aircraft was founded in 1972 by the American aircraft designer Richard E. VanGrunsven. Today, over 9000 (kit)aircraft are finished and flying. The RV-12 was introduced in 2008, and is the company's entrant in the S-LSA market. The RV-12 is only available with tricycle landing gear. It is the easiest to build design from Van's Aircraft and the most complete kit ever offered by Van's Aircarft. Construction is mostly metal, with some composites and the aircraft featured a fully flying elevator and full-span allerons. The aircraft is powered 100hp Rotax 912 ULS engine. The model is not only offered as kit but also fully manufactured under a agreement with Synergy Air. There are alraady, over 400 RV-12s completed.

On 27 August 2014, the by Dennis v.d. Toorren built Van's RV-12 s/n 120546 was registered PH-DRV in the Netherlands. The homebuilt Van's RV-12 PH-DRV was flown first on 31 August 2014. The aircraft is powered by a 4-cylinder, 4-stroke liquid/air-cooled Rotax 912 ULS engine with opposed cylinders. The spinner/cowling and wheel pants of the PH-DRV are made from carbon fiber.
On 13 February 2017, Van's Aircraft RV-12 PH-DRV was seen at Hoogeveen airfield (EHHO).
