Designed originally for agricultural duties under the designation SKh-1, the An-2 utility transport
flew for the first time on 31 August 1947. Of robust construction and suitable for operations from
short, semi-prepared strips, the Antonov An-2 has been manufactured for both military and civil roles.
The An-2 remained in production until 1991. Over 18.000 of the different types were built in the
Ukraine (5000), Poland (12000) and China (1000). The ICAO Aircraft Type Designator for the Antonov An-2T is AN2. |
In August 1952, Antonov An-2T s/n 128(473)02 was delivered as '802 white' to the Soviet Air Force. Although delivered to the Soviet Air force,
the aircraft went to the Kasernierte Volkspolizei of East Germany, where it was operated by the Schleppstaffel Cottbus. In September 1957, the
aircraft was transferred to the NVA (East German Air Force) and entered service as '802' with TVFS. In 1963, An-2T '802' was transferred to TFS-27
and in March 1965 to VFS-25 at Strausberg Nord, where is was operated on behalf of the 'Dynamo-Kette'. On 9 March 1969, the '802' was damaged
when it collided with An-2T '822' while taxiing at Strausberg Nord when the brakes failed. After the damage was repaired, the aircraft returned
in service with VFS-25. On 1 February 1971, VFS-25 was redesignated VS-14 (Verbindungsfliegerstaffel 14). In 1978, the '802' was transferred to
the Transportfliegerausbildungsstaffel-TAS (redesignated TFAS-45 on 1 September 1981 and TAS-45 on 24 November 1986). After German reunification
in 1990, the Luftwaffe assumed control over the NVA equipment and many of the GDR's military aircraft were declared obsolete or incompatible with
NATO technical standards, and were withdrawn from use or sold. For An-2T '802' registration '54+11' was assigned, but ntu. On 23 October 1990,
Antonov An-2T '802' was sold to Josef Koch, the owner of Fliegendes Museum at Augsburg. On 21 July 1992, the Antonov An-2T was registered D-FOFM
with Historische Flugzeuge Jozef Koch. Since, the 1952-built Antonov An-2T D-FOMF is operated by Fliegendes Museum, initially at Augsburg Airport;
still in full NVA colors. In 2000, Fliegendes Museum / Historische Flugzeuge Jozef Koch moved to Flugplatz Grossenhain. On 18 October 2017,
registration D-FOFM was cancelled. In September 2021, Antonov An-2T D-FOFM was ferried to Flugplatz Stadtlohn-Wenningfeld (EDLS), where it was
seen parked in NVA / 12802 colors. |
