Designed originally for agricultural duties under the designation SKh-1, the An-2 utility transport flew for the first time on 31 August 1947. Of robust construction and suitable for operations from short, semi-prepared strips, the Antonov An-2 has been manufactured for both military and civil roles. The An-2 remained in production until 1991. Over 18.000 of the different types were built in the Ukraine (5000), Poland (12000) and China (1000).

PZL-Mielec An-2TP SP-MAX was one of the highlights at the 20th Oldtimer Fly-in at Schaffen-Diest in 2004. This aircraft was built in 1988 as an An2TP by PZL-Mielec in Poland. It was registered in Poland as SP-FAM. In the nineties the SP-FAM was re-registered SP-FZU. After being withdrawn from use the aircraft was rebuild. The An2TP got a very comfortable interior: leather seats, drink bar and toilet, and was registered SP-MAX on 26 March 2004. In 2005, An-2TP SP-MAX was re-registered SP-MIK.
