The two-seater Comco-Ikarus Sherpa II is an example for the simplicity and
suitability of the first generation micro-light aircraft. The
manufacturer of the Sherpa, Comco GmbH, was originally specialised in
the production of special machinery. In 1976 Comco began making hang
gliders, of which under the name Ikarus over 2000 were built. The
single-seat Sherpa I was the first motorised Ikarus micro-light aircraft
and entered serial production in 1982. The open two-seater Sherpa II is
constructed out of alu-tube covered with sailcloth. The nose of the
plane is made out of glassfibre composite. |

The 1984-built Comco-Ikarus Sherpa II s/n 8403-1057 was registered first D-MSKG in Germany.
After the aircraft was sold in the Netherlands, it was registered PH-1W6 on 3 July 1989.
As powersource this Sherpa uses a Rotax 462 UL CB engine. On 2 October 1998, registration PH-1W6 was cancelled,
but on on 10 April 2001, the aircraft was restored to the register as PH-1W6. On 9 April 2005, the CofA of the aircraft expired
and registration PH-1W6 was cancelled on 24 June 2006. Comco-Ikarus Sherpa II PH-1W6 was seen at the ULM-aerodrome Stadskanaal
in Vledderveen, the Netherlands, on 17 February 2002. |
