A widely used ultralight aircraft is the Ikarus Fox II / C-22. Comco developed the Fox II as the
successor of the popular Ikarus Sherpa ultralight aeroplane. Production of the improved 2-seat Fox II
by Comco Ikarus GmbH in Mengen, Germany, started in 1984. In 1987, the C22 Fox II replaced the Fox II in
production. Over 1000 Fox II / C22 planes were built and the ultralight is exported to almost
every European country, Asia, the Near East and South-America. The Ikarus
C22 was offered for sale in three models: C22 C, C22 CS and Aero. The CS
model has a three-blade propeller, covered engine and a stainless steel
exhaust system. The Comco-Ikarus C 22 CS Aero is the top model in the C 22 series and has a glass-fibre fuselage closed
cockpit-cubicle with doors on both sides, an instrument console, etc. The C 22 C Aero is powered by a
80 hp 4-cylinder-4-stroke liquid-cooled / air-cooled Rotax 912 UL version engine. |

The 1991-built Comco-Ikarus C22 C Aero s/n 9108-3366 was registered PH-2F3 on 10 September 1991.
On 5 March 2004, registration PH-2F3 was cancelled and the ultralight aeroplane was registered
SE-VGD in Sweden on 13 August 2004. Comco-Ikarus C22 C Aero PH-2F3 was photographed
at the ULM-aerodrome Stadskanaal in Vledderveen, the Netherlands. |
