A widely used ultralight aircraft is the Ikarus Fox II / C-22. Comco developed the Fox II as the successor of the popular Ikarus Sherpa ultralight aeroplane. Production of the improved 2-seat Fox II by Comco Ikarus GmbH in Mengen, Germany, started in 1984. In 1987, the C22 Fox II replaced the Fox II in production. Over 1000 Fox II / C22 planes were built and the ultralight is exported to almost every European country, Asia, the Near East and South-America. The Ikarus C22 was offered for sale in three models: C22 C, C22 CS and Aero. The CS model has a three-blade propeller, covered engine and a stainless steel exhaust system. The Comco-Ikarus C 22 CS Aero is the top model in the C 22 series and has a glass-fibre fuselage closed cockpit-cubicle with doors on both sides, an instrument console, etc. The C 22 C Aero is powered by a 80 hp 4-cylinder-4-stroke liquid-cooled / air-cooled Rotax 912 UL version engine.

On 6 August 1992, the Comco-Ikarus C22 s/n 9209-3439 was registered PH-2H1 in the Netherlands with J.W.Aeilkema, Vlagtwedde. On 7 September 1993, the 1992-built Comco-Ikarus Fox C22 was registered with G.Plat, Tweede Exloërmond. On 25 February 1999, the PH-2H1 was registered with H.W.Muzerie, Exloo. On 6 May 2003, the Comco-Ikarus C22 was registered with H.Stalman, Kropswolde. On 8 September 2013, the CofA expired and on 30 October 2014, registration PH-2H1 was cancelled as sold to Poland. On 14 October 2007, Comco-Ikarus C22 Fox PH-2H1 was seen at the ULM-aerodrome Stadskanaal with registration incorrect painted as PH-2-H1.
