The Cessna 170 is a four-seat single engined high wing light aircraft of all-metal construction, developed by Cessna
Aircraft Company, Wichita, Kansas, USA. Introduced in 1948, the Model 170 was virtually initially a four-seat version
of the two-seat Model 120 although, in fact, a new design, and production contnued until 1956 when the Model 170 was
supplanted in the Cessna range by the model 172. The initial production versions, the Model 170 and 170A, differed
only in minor details, but the 1953 Model 170B introduced a redesigned and lengthened engine cowling, and the 1955
rear windows, an additional flap position (10°) and revised tailwheel steering.The successor of the Model 170, the
Model 172 was approved by the FAA on 4 November 1955. A total of 5,171 aircraft of Model 170 have been built. |
