On 24 May 1958, Martinair was founded by Martin Schröder as Martin's Luchtvervoer Maatschappij NV, known as Martin's Air Charter (MAC). The company name was changed in Martinair Holland NV in 1974. Martinair Holland is a subsidiary of KLM and Nedloydd and operated in 2005 a fleet of 3 Airbus 320-200, 1 Boeing 737-800, 4 Boeing 747-200, 6 Boeing 767-300 and 7 McDonnell Douglas MD-11 airliners. The home base of Martinair Holland is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands.

Martinair Cargo's McDonnell Douglas MD-11F PH-MCW is painted in the new livery Martinair Holland introduced in 2005. McDonnell Douglas MD-11F s/n 48788 l/n 632 was handed over as PH-MCI on 20 November 1998 and arrived on delivery at Amsterdam on 21 November 1998. With McDonnell Douglas' merger with Boeing in 1997 the McDonnell Douglas MD-11F became a Boeing product.
