Martinair was founded on May 24th 1958 by Martin Schröder as Martin's Luchtvervoer Maatschappij NV, known as Martin's
Air Charter (MAC). The company name was changed in 1974 in Martinair Holland NV. Martinair Holland is a subsidiary of
KLM and Nedloydd and operated in 2005 a fleet of 3 Airbus 320-200, 1 Boeing 737-800, 4 Boeing 747-200, 6 Boeing 767-300
and 7 McDonnell Douglas MD-11 airliners. The home base of Martinair Holland is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands.
Martinair Cargo's McDonnell Douglas MD-11F PH-MCW is painted in the basic Martinair Holland livery introduced in 1974.
In 2005 new colours were introduced. The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 c/n 48445 l/n 460 flew first in February 1991 and was
delivered on 22 April 1991 to Swissair as HB-IWC. On 31 March 2002, Swissair passed out of existence due to
liquidity problems. The HB-IWC was transferred to Crossair, a former subsidiary of the defunct Swissair that acquired most
of the assets. Crossair was renamed Swiss Air Lines and the HB-IWC remained in service painted in the brand name
Swiss. MD-11 HB-IWC was withdrawn from use at Zurich on 30 March 2004. The MD-11 was ferried to Naples in Italy and converted
into a freighter. The MD-11F was registered on 15 April 2004 as N626FE with the Wells Fargo Bank Northwest and in July
2004 the aircraft returned to Zurich. The MD-11F was registered PH-MCY with Martinair Holland NV on 3 September 2004.
With McDonnell Douglas' merger with Boeing in 1997 the McDonnell Douglas MD-11F became a Boeing product.
