Martinair was founded on May 24th 1958 by Martin Schröder as Martin's Luchtvervoer Maatschappij NV, known as Martin's Air Charter (MAC). The company name was changed in 1974 in Martinair Holland NV. Martinair Holland is a subsidiary of KLM and Nedloydd and operated in 2005 a fleet of 3 Airbus 320-200, 1 Boeing 737-800, 4 Boeing 747-200, 6 Boeing 767-300 and 7 McDonnell Douglas MD-11 airliners. The home base of Martinair Holland is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands.

Airbus A.320-232 s/n 2167 PH-MPF was originally built for GATX and flew first on 4 February 2004 with test registration F-WWIY. The Airbus was leased by Martinair Holland and was delivered as PH-MPF on 19 April 2004. The Airbus 320 was photographed at Groningen Airport Eelde in the Netherlands when operated on a flight Oslo-Groningen.
